Sotheby’s is all set to put the famous Pink Star—a 59.60-carat fancy vivid pink diamond—under the hammer on 4th April 2017 in Hong Kong. The jewel is expected to beat the Christie’s blue diamond (sold at $57.5 million last year) and become the most expensive diamond ever sold at an auction with a selling price of $60 million.

Sotheby’s to Auction the World’s Largest Pink Diamond

This huge jewel is an oval mixed-cut pink diamond and is the largest internally flawless fancy vivid pink diamond as per the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

The stone was mined by the De Beers Group in the year 1999 in Africa. The diamond, when found, was a 132.5-carat rough gemstone. It was then cut and polished to its current size.
