Tonka bean, the seed of Dipteryx odorata tree, is one of the widely-used ingredients in the perfume industry, especially in oriental perfumes. The seed is native to South and Central America and boasts of fragrance notes including cinnamon and baked cherry, which give a warm touch to the perfume. Tonka beans blend well with fresher ones like citrus fruits, vetiver, and flowers. This native-American bean is prominently used in men’s fragrances.
